Cowheel Pies and Festivals

On line orders for our award winning pies are increasing as word is getting round that you don’t have to be local to enjoy the taste sensation of our Potato and Meat Pie or one of our Best Pork Pies. Also don’t forget to try the old Lancashire delicacy brought back to life for a twenty first century experience – the Steak and Cowheel Pie!
Traditionally for sale at markets in Oldham, Bolton, Preston and other Lancashire towns, Bradley’s Bakery have turned this unusual ingredient called cowheel into a modern day delicacy. The resulting product won a silver medal at the British Pie Awards 2011 which were held in Melton Mowbray and is a great hit with customers both old and new. The pie is created by slow cooking the minced, gelatinous cowheel before adding it to our already famous family Steak Pie recipe. The result - a delicious tasting gastronomic experience unlike anything anyone, under the age of about seventy, has ever tasted before! Cowheel creates a rich and tasty gravy but the best thing about it is – it’s FAT FREE!
Currently one of our best sellers, Bradley’s Steak and Cowheel Pie will pleasantly surprise you.
Whilst we get on with the baking why don’t you take time out to enter our competition? Follow the link below and you could win a pair of tickets for the Oldham Athletic v Preston North End match on Saturday 6th October 2012 at Boundary Park. Last entries to be in by the closing date of 14th September 2012.

Catch up time

It's been a few months since we did our very first blog so I thought it was time to play catch-up!!

We have had a busy few months at Bradley's. In April we were awarded two silver awards at The British Pie Awards which were held in Melton Mowbray. With over 900 entries from bakers and butchers all over the U.K we are really proud to have our product acknowledged at these prestigious awards. The pies which were given the awards were our Pork and Bury black pudding and our steak and cowheel.

We have also been shortlisted for The pride of Tameside Business awards which take place at Dukinfield Town Hall on Friday 25th May. We have been shortlisted for Retail Business of the Year and Business of the Year.

We are still in the process of setting up our e-commerce site which we hope to have up and running by mid June-watch this space.

We would like to thank all our customers for their continued support.

We are going to running a new feature on our Twitter account-spot the van. Our new van will be photographed in places throughout the North West with a prize to the winning answer, we will update everyone on this once the quiz is up and running.

We continue to sell our pies at Dr Kershaw's Hospice in Oldham on the 3rd Sunday of the month at their monthly farmer's market.

Pies on the radio!

We had a busy week last week. On Tuesday Matt, one of the bakers at Bradley's entered the pop quiz on Key 103 and got a respectable score of 7/10. Not too sure as being classed as the "old one" when I got a question from the 80's right!!! We certainly got Darren Proctor from Key 103's tastebuds going just by mentioning the words "pork and chilli black pudding pies". So on Friday I made a trip to Key 103 with a selection of our pies for Darren Proctor they arrived just in time for the start of his "Top 10 at 10" show.

The new pork and Bury black pudding pies have proved to be a massive hit with our customers. This pie is now our pie of the month for February but I am sure that it will soon become a regular at Bradley's!

On Valentine's Day we will be at Wilkinson's in Ashton-Under-Lyne where samples of our pies will be available. We have been invited along by Tameside Employability School as part of their promotion. We will have a great surprise for anyone visiting Wilkinson's next Tuesday-so hope to see you there.

Entries have just gone in for this year's British Pie Awards which will be held in Melton Mowbray in April-we are hoping to repeat our success from the last two years.

This is our very first blog-more to come and photos too next time.
